Standing ovation

March 11, 2004

I would like to give recognition to all the students involved in the Battle of the Bands. These guys did a superb job of promoting, organizing, running and participating in the event.
First, to the De Soto High School Student Council and honor society, who organized and ran the event. It was nice to be able to sit and watch instead of having to do the work at a fund-raiser. All appeared to run smoothly, with the exception of a few blown amplifiers. They ran the concession booth, ticket sales, raffle booth, the event and left the Community Center as they had found it.
For those not familiar with this, they also dedicated their hard work and profits to a high school teacher injured in a car wreck.
Secondly, I would like to say to all the other students from our school and the other schools that came to watch and participate, "Well done." I was surprised that the groups meshed so well without problems.
As a parent watching, sometimes wishing for earplugs, it was an enjoyable evening.
Those parents should be proud and I wash there had been more adults there to enjoy it.
I look forward to seeing this event again next year.
On a last note, I want to promise Kody that I will not purchase raffle tickets next year.
