Richard A. Granger
Services for Richard "Dick" A. Granger, 70, Olathe, were Tuesday, April 15, at Bruce Funeral Home, Gardner. Burial was in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens, Shawnee.
Mr. Granger died Saturday, April 12, 2003, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 13, 1932, in Huntley, Wyo., the son of Earl G. and Lois Irene (Yosy) Granger. He graduated from Laramie High School in 1941 and attended junior college. He moved to Olathe from De Soto in 2000. He moved to De Soto in 1977 from Kansas City, Mo. He had also lived in Nebraska.
Mr. Granger served in the United States Army 101st Airborne Paratrooper from 1953 to 1956 as a sergeant in the Korean War.
He was a janitor at De Soto High School for 10 years. Prior to that, he was the manager for the De Soto Hardware Store. He had also worked at Broadway Supply in Kansas City and he was a police officer in Scott's Bluff, Neb.
Mr. Granger was a member of the Church of Christ, Olathe, V.F.W. Post No. 6654 and the De Soto Rotary, both of De Soto and the Oddfellows Lodge in Kansas City.
He married Norma Lee Kenney Feb. 21, 1954 in Columbus, Ga. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Randy Granger, Shawnee; four daughters, Connie Granger, Hillsdale, Debra Kever, Lee's Summit, Mo., Kimberly Kolman, Shawnee and Christine Brandon, Olathe; a sister, Mable Meland, Morrill, Neb.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A brother, Robert Granger, and three grandchildren preceded him in death.
