Kenneth R. Simmons
Services for Kenneth R. Simmons, 70, De Soto, were Saturday, Jan. 5, at De Soto Baptist Church. Burial was Monday, Jan. 7, at East Lawn Cemetery, Springfield, Mo.
Mr. Simmons died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2002, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam.
He was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Globe, Ariz., the son of Ira Dale and Oda Pearl (Patton) Simmons.
He graduated from Springfield High School, Springfield, Mo., and K.C. Business College.
Mr. Simmons retired after working 20 years for the Griffin Wheel Company as a payroll clerk. He worked nine years in the accounting department at Intertec Company in Overland Park and then worked in accounting and payroll at the Sunflower Ordnance Plant in De Soto.
He was a member of the De Soto Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, song leader, youth leader, worship leader and Pastor of visitation. He was a member of the Keynote Quartet.
He married Mary Lou Swearengin on June 21, 1951, in Springfield, Mo. She survives of the home.
His brother, B.D. Simmons, Independence, Mo., also survives.
Memorial contributions may be made to the De Soto Baptist Church building fund.
