Claude E. Makepeace
Services for Claude E. Makepeace, 70, De Soto, were Wednesday, Dec. 11, at the D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel. Burial was in the Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mr. Makepeace died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at the Specialty Hospital of Mid-America, Overland Park.
He was born Oct. 29, 1932, in Burlington, the son of Charles Eugene and Mable Laverne (Harris) Makepeace.
Mr. Makepeace served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for the State of Kansas as a petroleum inspector, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of the American Legion, Olathe, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Delores Benaka Feb. 6, 1959. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include a son, Darin Eugene Makepeace, Sellersburg, Ind.; a daughter, Mavis Diane Koch, Topeka; his father; a brother, Charles H. Makepeace, Burlington; two sisters, Marguerite Harper, Gulfport, Miss., and Linda S. Posey, Shawnee, Miss.; and three grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the De Soto Nutrition Site or to the National Kidney Foundation.
