Alumna’s design fit to a T

October 4, 2001

When the De Soto High Cat Boosters wanted someone to design its T-shirt for the 2001-2002 school year, it called in a ringer.

This year's shirts were designed by Kelly Fletcher, a senior in graphic arts at Kansas University and DHS alumna.

"We found a design we kind of liked and went to her with it," said Connie Duncan, who is heading up the Cat Boosters' T-shirt drive. "We liked the idea that a De Soto High graduate would be doing the work."

Fletcher said she was equally honored.

"I was happy to do something for the school because they've done a lot for me," she said. "Plus, it will help my portfolio."

The Cat Boosters wanted to include a representation of all the school's sports and activities in the design. Fletcher said she was able to accomplish that while working in changes she thought improved the design.

"They were pretty good clients," she said. "They were pretty flexible in everything."

The daughter of Bill and Kathy Fletcher will graduate in December. Meanwhile, she stays busy doing in-house design work for the university.

Duncan said the T-shirts will be available at home football games, at upcoming parent/teacher conferences at the high school or by calling her at 585-3729. The T-shirts are $12 each for regular and under. Extra-large sizes are $2 more.
