Jaguars lose bid for league championship
Missing out on all chances for a league title, the Mill Valley baseball team fell to Santa Fe Trail, 7-2, on Monday.
The Jaguars (13-4 overall) led Santa Fe Trail 2-0 after one inning of play, but an offensive fallout three hits in the final six innings did not create the offensive production.
"Their pitcher changed speed well on us and they took advantage on everything we gave up," Mill Valley head coach Carl Garrett said.
The Jaguars lost the grasp in their inaugural season for a Kaw Valley League championship with the loss, falling to 7-3 in league play.
Mill Valley finished up the regular season schedule on Wednesday with a doubleheader with Lansing. Results were not available at press time.
Pairings for the Class 4A Baseball Regional Tournament will be made Saturday. The Jaguars stand even with Kaw Valley foe Piper. Basehor-Linwood is currently slated for the top seed in the seven-team regional, which would earn the Bobcats a bye on Monday.
Bishop Ward is the host for the regional, which will be played at Eisenhower Field in Kansas City, Kan., May 16. First-round games are played at the site of the higher seed.
