Rena F. Rea
Funeral services for Rena F. "Tina" Rea, 53, Pomona, were Friday, June 1, at Dengel and Son Mortuary. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona.
Mrs. Rea died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center.
She was born August 28, 1947, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Harold Schirlls and Marjorie Irene (Moore) Houston. She was a longtime Pomona resident, moving there from Gardner in 1983.
She graduated from De Soto High School in 1965. She was a homemaker.
She married Eugene Sumner in 1964 in De Soto. They were later divorced. She married James Rea on Oct. 31, 1994, in Pomona.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Frank Houston; and four brothers, Melvin Empt, Charles Krone, John Roy Houston and Billy Jo Houston.
Survivors include her husband, James Rea, of the home; two sons, Douglas Sumner, Michigan Valley, and Tommy Dial, Pomona; a daughter, Christina Hill, Osage City; two brothers, Darrell Schirlls, Florida, and Russell "Mike" Houston, Olathe; a sister, Linda Ann Edwards, La Cygne; maternal grandmother, Lillian Faye Homan, Hoyt; stepgrandfather, William R. Homan, Hoyt; and two grandchildren.
