Manson shines on basketball court

January 18, 2001

In the halls of DeSoto High, he looks like an ordinary high school student. But, junior Todd Manson shines on the basketball floor.

DeSoto coach Jason Generally is the first to sing his praises.

"Manson is an absolute leader. He has great intensity in games and in all practices that never wavers. He can play multiple positions on the basketball court and is an intelligent respectful person," Generally said.

Manson is so intense, he often pays a physical price, the coach added.

"No one has as many floor burns as Manson has," Generally said.

A well-rounded athlete, Manson has played soccer, basketball and baseball throughout his middle and high school years.

The decision to be so involved in the athletic arena is one that comes naturally to Manson.

"I like playing sports. No one is forcing me to play I do this on my own," he said.

The first-year varsity player also has some nice things to say about his coach.

"Coach Generally is a great coach, and really knows what he's talking about," Manson said.

Although it's early in season, Manson already remembers one game fondly.

"I liked the Lansing game because it was so close," he said.

Manson said that he would like to go to college, but he doesn't know where, or if he wants to play college sports. But, according to Generally, his options should be open.

"Todd Manson is a kid who could play on any team because of his work ethic, blunt talent, and effort," Generally said.
