Jaguars take second at Holton Invitational
The start of the KU Rim Rock Invitational was crowded on Saturday morning as 368 boys took to the course.
Five runners brought home medals as the Mill Valley girls cross country team finished second at the Holton Invitational meet last Tuesday.
Senior Angie Matlack led the girls team by finishing third out of the 44 runners. Her time of 12:20 was a personal best.
"I was excited and I hope I can do it again," she said. "I really like having a good team to run with this year."
The boys team ran without Griffin Lee and Jay Matlack, both of whom were running in the prestigious KU Rim Rock Invitational. As a result, the Jaguars didn't fare as well as the girls team in Holton.
"Our guys ran well without Griffin and Jay, with Brian Fritz really stepping up and running extremely well as our No. 1 runner," said coach Mark Chipman.
Lee placed 11th out of the 368 runners with a time of 16:26 a personal record at the Rim Rock Invitational.
The cross-country team's next race is on Thursday at Tonganoxie.
