Lee starts year with a third-place finish
Junior Griffin Lee, Mill Valley's only runner, brought home a third-place finish from the recent St. Thomas Aquinas Challenge in the Jaguars' first-ever cross country meet.
"I felt very honored to be the first person to wear a Mill Valley cross country uniform," Lee said.
The entire team was in uniform Saturday when at the Wamego Invitational and the results weren't bad. The girls team placed fifth out of 18 teams, while the boys team only managed to place 14th.
"Considering six of our seven [girls] were running their first-ever cross country race, it even more encouraging to see their efforts rewarded," said Mill Valley coach Mark Chipman.
"I was very excited and surprised to hear that our girls team had finished," said junior Aubry Hale, who finished in the middle of the pack.
