Services for Maude Ruth Luther, 92, Perry, were Monday, July 24, at Barnett Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Perry.

Mrs. Luther died Thursday, July 20, 2000, at Stormont-Vail Hospital, Topeka.

She was born March 14, 1908, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of William and Edith Corliss.

Mrs. Luther and her husband farmed in Corliss Bottoms, east of DeSoto. They developed a garage and salvage yard in 1938 and then moved to Arizona for a short time. When they returned to DeSoto, they developed Gas Island, a service station and bulk oil plant. They moved back to Arizona in the 1960s and developed properties there before returning to Perry, Kan., in the late 1970s.

Mrs. Luther was a member of the Christian Church and Lion's Club Auxiliary.

She married Francis M. Luther in 1931 in Lawrence. He died May 29, 1991.

A grandson, Terry Newport, died in 1993.

Survivors include a son, Harold L. Luther, Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Alice M. Newport, Perry; a brother, Leslie Corliss, San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
