Host DeSoto takes twinbill from Lansing
Ashley Perkins and Tiffany Thurman had victories as DeSoto softball team improved to 5-1 with a doubleheader sweep of Lansing Tuesday.
Perkins tossed a three-hitter in the opener, an 11-0 victory that featured a three-hit, three-RBI performance from Jena Thoma.
In the nightcap, Thurman, making her varsity debut on the mound, went the distance as DeSoto spanked the Lions, 17-2.
DeSoto hosts Basehor-Linwood Thursday and travels to Bishop Miege Tuesday for what should be a good test for a team with its sights set on another trip to the Kansas lass 5A tournament.
In junior varsity action, the Wildcats improved to 4-0 with a doubleheader sweep of Perry-Lecompton last week.
Kala Glass picked up the win in the 5-4 opener, while Thurman had three hits and tossed a shutout in the 15-0 nightcap.
Chelsea Salyer had three hits in the second game and Amber O'Conner ended the contest, via the mercy rule, with a home run.
