The seventh annual Bike Safety Rodeo is planned for 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 20 at Mill Valley High School, 5900 Monticello Road.
Shawnee Rotary and the city of Shawnee are sponsoring the rain-or-shine event, which provides safety training for children who plan to ride their bikes to school.
After completing a seven-station skills course, participants will earn bike safety certificates presented by Shawnee police officers, T-shirts and bike helmets donated by businesses and not-for-profit groups. Free bike inspections, helmet fittings, prizes and entertainment also are planned.
